Lieutenant Colonel Rhooms

Lieutenant Colonel Rhooms was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. She earned a Master of Science degree in Education from Brooklyn College. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Saint John’s University with a focus in Educational Administration and Supervision. Her military service began as an active component private (PVT/E1). She quickly moved to the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) before commissioning as an Army Reserve officer. Lieutenant Colonel Rhooms was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant Corps in July 2007. From January 2008 to May 2015, she was assigned to the 8th Personnel Support Battalion, Ft. Dix, NJ where she worked as the Battalion S1/S3. In 2015, she transitioned to the 1179th Transportation Brigade, Ft. Hamilton, NY, as the Brigade S1. She held the position until she became the Inspector General (IG) at the Deployment Support Command, Birmingham, AL from September 2020 to February 2024. In April of 2024, she joined the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and is assigned to G-33.

Her professional military education includes Intermediate Level Education (ILE), the Adjutant General Captain Career Course/Office Basic Course, and the Inspector General Course.

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

In her civilian occupation, she currently works as a high school assistant principal in New York City.
